i live in southeast ,Mo. almost Arkansas. i am wondering if there are any good trainers and kennels fairly close to where i live. the only one i know of is a kennel in mt. vernon , Ill. Vonhausmeyer Shepherds but he seems like a crook to me.i am trying to find someone who can help me train my dog for sch. i am also trying to find a nice pup or young dog. i have never bought a working dog before so it is very important that i find a breeder that is honest and trustworthy. i am in no big hurry to get a dog but i would like to get one this year. what kind of price range can i expect to pay for a high quality pup.
Stay away from the kennel you mentioned. I learned a very expensive lesson from that guy. Your gut instinct is 100 percent correct. This is one guy I wish Ed would add to his list of crooks. As far as prices go. I would recommend getting to know some people in some Sch. clubs and find out what they have to offer in the way of who has pups for sale and have first hand knowledge of the parents. Its like everything else sometimes it is who you know. To get right to your question, it varies you could expect to pay anywhere between 600 and 1500 for a pup. The main concern though is getting the right pup. Its never a waste of money no matter what the amount for a good dog.Thats how I think.
Stop making excuses for your dog and start training it!
Be sure to look at Todd Gaster's dogs. I am
looking myself now and have been in contact
with a number of breeders and Todd is really
head and shoulders above the crowd in the
"...trustworthy and honest..." category.
