Thanks Connie, I'll look those up. This conversation got a little off my original question. Everyone has a different and equally valid opinoin on this subject. I guess everyone should just do the training that feels the most comfortable to them and that is what I will tell my club.
If your original question was (quote): My question is in your experience do your club members pet each other dogs? (End), then it's answered clearly in the Q & A (by Ed Frawley) about petting by others. And of course only you decide how your own dog is handled, even in a club. At least I think that. If someone else was deciding about my dog, I wouldn't be there.
My dog(s) still have, what I think is to be some what of a nuetral atitude. They still dark when my door bell rings, they still bark when they see people walking up my drive. They even still bark at some people when they come in my house. Ever since my dogs were little pups, as people were petting them I would say, "make friends". I would keep saying this. As the years have ticked by, now when I say, "make friends" my dogs will walk up to people, with me by the dogs side ofcorce and see me shake the new persons hands and have "friendly" type contact with the person. I do this to try and show my dogs friendly and unfriendly type contact with its owner(me).
Will my dogs bite some one for coming in my home while Im away? I trully dont know. I have not started any home type defence, with owner not present. But, one thing, I trully beleave to be true, is that my dog will not bite out of fear or unknown when in public with me unless told to.
