Leerburg Customer's Dogs in Muzzles
Muzzle Warning - If you train with or use muzzles you need to read this!
MUZZLE SIZING WARNING:
It's important that customers measure their dogs to determine what size muzzle a dog needs. Some muzzles are identified as breed specific, this is not an accurate way to determine what muzzle your dog needs.
Dogs within a specific breed can have a wide variety of head measurements. It is impossible to say that one muzzle size fits all Rottweilers or one muzzle size fits all Dobermans or one muzzle size fits all Cocker Spaniels.
The only true way to determine what muzzle fits your dog is by measuring your dog's head in the manner in which we detail below.
To measure your dog's nose,
follow the two steps listed below.
~STEP ONE~
Measure the dog's nose length. This should be
from the tip of the nose to 1/2 inch below
the eyes. This should be taken along the top of the dog's nose
as shown below.

Example: The dog in this photo has a 4-inch nose
length
~STEP TWO~
- Measure the circumference of the nose. This should be done at the same point - 1/2 inch below the eyes - all the way around the mouth closed.
Example: The dog in this photo
has a circumference of about 11 1/2-inches
To measure your dog's nose, see the instructions at top of page.

** It is VERY important that you give your dog enough room to pant while wearing the muzzle. The measurements shown in the chart above are the ACTUAL measurements of the muzzle itself. You need to be sure of TWO things before you choose your muzzle size.
FIRST: Your dogs "nose length" CAN NOT be SHORTER than the actual "muzzle length." If the muzzle is longer/deeper than your dog's nose length, the muzzle will be in the dog's line of vision.
SECOND: The muzzle's " circumference" MUST be LARGER than your dog's "nose circumference." We recommend between 1 -3 inches larger than your dog's measurement. If the muzzle is the exact same size as your dog's nose, the dog won't be able to pant. Its mouth won't even be able to open.
If you are unsure of the size to choose, measure your dog then call our office and we will do our best to help you decide the best style and size of muzzle for your dog.

Stephanie,
We’ve received the muzzle that you helped me with and will begin working with it this evening.
I wanted to thank you for your help. I would have chosen a longer muzzle than what you recommended, but I can see now how it will sit on her nose without obstructing her line of sight.
Thank you for steering me in the right direction and for expediting my order. You were extremely helpful and truly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Juli

I would like to let you know how happy I am with the muzzle I ordered from you. Shadow acts like he does not even have one on and we went to the dog park for the first time since he was attacked by the dog that ripped his nose and both eyes doing $600.00 of damage to his face not counting the emotional part. After he was attacked he showed signs of becoming aggressive to other dogs and being a pit bull I was afraid to try to socialize him with other dogs,I tried once and it was a dog walking on the sidewalk with me Shadow was on a choke collar on a lead and it was a disaster but yesterday with your muzzle I was able to let him off his leash and he acted like the old Shadow before the attack, I was amazed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much, I will always be grateful that I found you all.
Sincerely,
Patti and Shadow
On 11/22 your helpful Telephone Person listened to my Standard Poodle's muzzle measurements and suggested Cocker and Bull Terrier wire muzzles
Both fit perfectly. So perfectly that Benedict, my SP, accepted both without fuss, and has been wearing them -- one at a time -- also without fuss. (Yes, he is a tolerant dog, but he HATED the Halti.)
Although Benedict has tried to munch his way around the house wearing the muzzle, so far he has not picked up anything to precipitate another culinary disaster.
Thanks!
Sally
