OPK9 Medical Team at WLECHA 2026
Join us at the 2026 WLECHA conference as we go behind the scenes with the OPK9 Medical Team, the volunteer veterinarians, vet techs and EMS professionals who give working police K9s medical care at no cost to their handlers. Tour the medical stations, from physical exams, blood typing and medications to dental, ultrasound and therapeutic laser, then sit in as a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist examines a K9's eyes up close. Finally, watch handlers work a live training scenario: a K9 squad rollover with live wires, an injured officer and an injured dog. Teams have to call for resources, muzzle and move the K9, pack a bleeding wound and talk through a needle decompression, all under pressure. Every service here is free to K9 teams, and supporting OPK9 helps keep it that way.
