Some Dogs Should Never be Protection Trained with Michael Ellis
Uploaded on June 30, 2011 •

The latest training DVD that I produced with Michael Ellis is titled The Foundation of Puppy Bite Work with Michael Ellis. In this DVD, Michael talks about how the only dogs he will train are dogs that are genetically predisposed to protection training and want to do the work. Today's short video is taken right out of the Puppy Bite Work DVD. You will learn why some dogs should not be trained and you will listen to Michael explain the pitfalls of what can happen when dogs that should not be trained are indeed trained.

Wow! I loved this. I wish more people had 1/2 your common sense. Of course, experience goes a long way, as well as the basic understanding of the nature of the dog. I have been involved in rescue for 25 years I will NEVER say I have seen it all. I continue to study which is how I stumbled on the Leerburg site. I am thrilled! To finally find a balance in training methods (critical to rehab), gives me renewed energy. I know that training is not black and white, all positive or all negative. I have to (rather feel compelled to) help with these dogs whose owners "missed the boat early on". Many of the dogs I end up with are on the euthanasia list due to aggression. Wether "accidentally, or puposely provoked into aggression, people I work with (or dogs I end up with) now have to deal with the end result.I know that dogs need a job and I find that the first step is trying to find new outlets for their drive.I wish some owners were as easy to redirect! I am devouring everything in this site, and will be ordering some of your videos ASAP! Keep them coming!
