The 5 Core Words of Marker Training

In the marker training system, the mark is only part of the program. We take advantage of the reward-delivery after the mark to build on our communication with our dogs.

We use reward delivery to tell a dog when a training session starts and when it ends. We also establish a continuation marker to tell the dog that we like what it's doing and they should continue offering the behavior until we tell them to stop. We also have a negative marker to tell the dog that it didn't do what we asked correctly and if it wants a reward it has to try again.
