Why Foot Targets Are One of the First Behaviors We Teach Puppies with Michael Ellis
n this video from Raising Your Puppy, Michael is going to talk about why he teaches foot targets as one of his first behaviors he creates with puppies. We talk a lot about building tools we are going to use to create behavior before we actually start training the behavior we want. This is one of those building tools we teach puppies first. We do this because it is very simple and doesn't require a lot of coordination. We can begin to teach this with puppies at almost any age. You can start with an eight, nine, or ten-week-old puppy and begin to teach foot targeting, depending on how well they're doing with their luring, communication system, motivation, focus, and engagement.
