JJ Belcher on How to Handle Destructive Behaviors

Uploaded on July 26, 2022 • 7 min

In this video, JJ Belcher talks about destructive behaviors, their causes, and how to prevent them from happening. The best way to handle these behaviors is through proper management. This can include using equipment like kennels, crates, or ex-pens and keeping your dog entertained. This can be done by providing your dog with things they are allowed to chew on like chew toys, bones, bully sticks, and more; meanwhile, redirecting them away from things you don't want them to chew on like furniture, clothing, towels, rugs, shoes, and more. It is important for young dogs and new dogs to be strictly managed for at least the first three months to teach them the rules of the house. After that time period, it is up to you to assess your dog and grant them more freedom as you see fit.
