Hi Cindy,

I have a small 14 lb dog that I want to keep in the kitchen during the day while at work. I want to give her some area to exercise while I?m gone.?I was wondering how well this pen would work. Does it have stabilizers that would keep the dog from knocking over the pen??I?m sure she would be jumping up on the sides while I?m gone. Do you have any other recommendations short of using a crate? I do live in a small apartment.

Thanks,
Angie

Cindy Cindy's Answer:
The only way to know is to train the dog to accept the ex pen while you are home. I don’t leave any dog I have doubts about in an expen unattended.

I’m not sure what you mean by stabilizers, but the taller ex pen is fairly sturdy. My 15 pound dog can scoot it around a little but she doesn’t knock it over. She has also been trained to an expen since 8 weeks so she isn’t looking to get out. Some dogs simply don’t like being in the expen especially when they are left alone. Those dogs are best left in a crate so they don’t get into trouble.
