Is the higher content of alfalfa in Honest Kitchen Preference ok to feed on daily basis?

Full Question:
My question concerns Honest Kitchen Preference - what is your opinion on alfalfa? Preference seems to contain alot of alfalfa and I have heard good things and bad things about alfalfa use in dogs. Is the high amount of alfalfa that is in Preference ok to feed on a daily basis?
Thank you!
Cindy
Cindy Cindy's Answer:
We contacted the manufacturer to get more information on the Preference dog food.

They said that the Preference has 12% Alfalfa and Sweet Potato content each, which is higher than the other dehydrated dog food Honest Kitchen carries. The reasoning is because Preference is an additive, meaning you are using it along with real meats on a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio. For example with Preference you would use 1 cup dehydrated food and 1 cup added meats whereas with Embark you would use 2 cups dehydrated food and no additional meats. You’re not feeding as much of the Preference as you would the other dehydrated foods so the actual ingredient content per serving is going to be about the same.

The Alfalfa used in Honest Kitchen’s Preference is an all-natural, organic, alfalfa as well.

I hope this helps.
