My neighbor's dog attacked my puppy and I reported them to the township, was that the wrong thing to do?
Full Question:
In the 28 years of living in my home, my next door neighbor has had 4 dogs. Not any problems with the 1st one. The 2nd one they would walk and let poop on neighbors property without picking up. Then that neighbor had to post signs about picking up after your dog. His 3rd dog has bitten me, the floral delivery lady, the post man and attacked the others neighbors lab to the point of needing medical attention. His 4th dog came off their property and attacked my 5 month old puppy while I was walking him. Despite their dogs, they have been neighbors that would do anything for me. But, attack my dog, NO. I felt I needed to report them to the township. They served them with a warning, but now he sends me texts saying he is hurt and saddened that I took that approach. Was I wrong in doing so?
Cindy's Answer:
No, you were not wrong.
Irresponsible dog ownership is dangerous and even though you like the neighbors this isn't about whether you like them or not. What if a child is injured, another dog is attacked or they cause a person walking by to be hurt (trying to break up a dog fight or falling in the process of an altercation)?
