How do you choose the width of an agitation collar, is it purely personal preference?

Full Question:
Hi there. Is an agitation collar purely a personal preference in terms of width? My dog weighs about 70 pounds and the 2 inch collar I got looks big. I did not consider finding more about best practices for fitting a collar before I ordered. To be honest. I am beginning to learn more about protection sports, not sure which I have more affinity for and I’m just kind of dipping my toe in so to speak.

Cindy Cindy's Answer:
For a larger dog I like an agitation collar to distribute the pressure on the neck/throat area during protection training. 2 inches is appropriate for a 70 lb dog in most cases.

You could exchange for a narrower width collar if you feel the 2" is too bulky for your dog. I've added the link to the 1 ¼ inch collar below. If you need to speak to someone about a return or exchange, you can call 715-235-6502 for assistance. I hope this helps!
User Response:
Thanks Cindy. I think I’m going to keep it. It sure is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship!
