I'm trying to decide on the best e-collar for my dog, Charlie. He is a 14 month old 13lb Coton de Tulear. I will mostly be using it for general obedience and recall. His obedience is good but he still has 'teenagitis' and it would be a huge help if he didn't have to be leashed for me to correct him. He's started to respond to voice corrections only but we're not quite there yet.
I'm considering either a Dogtra 175NCP or an Innotek Lapdog Trainer. The 175NCP looks better but it seems a bit on the big side, would it be awkward for him to wear? The thing I don't like about the Innotek is that it only has four levels of stim, and Charlie can be either incredibly soft or hard depending on the level of distraction, and I worry that four levels wouldn't give enough range. Also, the Dogtra has a much longer distance and I want to use the collar for recall.
Which would you recommend? Are there any other brands I should consider?
Money really isn't a big problem, but I'd rather keep it under $300 as I'm a poor student right now.
Hi Amanda;
I would suggest the Dogta 200NCP. The sensation that dogtra collars produces is much more pleasant than the Innotek. The box on the 175 and 200 is the same and I like the feel of the remote on the 200. Much more comfortable in the hand. I also love the reostat as you can fine tune the sensations. Really important.
