Ouch. What an awful thing to happen. Your story brings back many bad memories of past surguries and injuries and it sounds like that still doesn't compare to what you're going through. My hand hurts just thinking of you. By now I hope you're starting to feel better. Best wishes for a quick recovery.
Yesterday I went back to the ER because the cast was so tight my hand was all tingly and since I can't take NSAIDs, they gave me predisone. The good news is, it does hurt as much anymore. This all sucks but its temporary, in 2 months I'll be healed hopefully and back at the gym, playing guitar and typing with both hands.
My brother is going with me to the vet to restrain Logan. He seems to be doing better so if the vet thinks its ok, he'll be sedated for the ultrasound. I'll let you guys know how that goes later.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
Thanks Kristen. The pred they gave me is a high dose and made me very nervous, like all shaky. Because of that, I couldn't take Logan to the vet today. They told me to reduce the dose. Can something good happen now? Please.

I've messily broken several bones in my right hand (awful), and my foot, too.
I do remember bad pain, but also that on the third or fourth day, there was a sudden relief.
Not that it no longer hurt, but it changed in one twenty-four hour period from jabbing pain to more of a dull ache that I was able to sleep with, with just a mild sleeping pill (15 mg temazapam).
For me, being able to sleep made all the difference in the world. It seems like everything heals better as you sleep, and nerves are not jaggedly on edge.
The sleeping pill probably wouldn't have been enough for the first two or three nights, but when it was, and I slept for six or seven hours, I really started to turn around.
Not so bad now...the prednisone was messing with me so I cut the dose to 1/3. I'm getting there...looking forward to getting the cast off and pins out on the 12th. This cast sucks!
