The goal of this video is to share Ed and Cindy's extensive experience on hiking with their dogs. Most days, Cindy hikes 2 to 6 miles with her dogs. She has been doing this for over 30 years. She hikes in urban, suburban and rural locations. This DVD goes into a great deal of detail on how to chose a hiking location that fits your dog's abilities. Considerations need to be made for your dog's physical ability, training level, and the distractions you are likely to meet on any given hike. While we expect our dogs to be under “100% control, 100% of the time”, we also want our hikes to be enjoyable for both us and our dogs. This video provides information both new and experienced dog owners should know to make that happen. This DVD explains how Ed and Cindy handle the various distractions encountered on their hikes. Some of those include bikers, joggers, other on and off leash dogs, both predators and prey animals, and more. This video explains how Ed and Cindy deal with these various distractions. What they do depends on the experience level of the dogs we are hiking with. They demonstrate their options. This DVD covers the skills your dog needs to learn to make walks/hikes stress-free and enjoyable. One of the things new trainers will learn is how Cindy turns distractions into short and fun engagement exercises and games that help our dogs ignore these distractions. When done correctly, hiking with your dog can become something both you and your dog enjoy and look forward to.
