We noticed that our dog's neck is raw where the ecollar prongs have been. I'm worried that he may be allergic to the metal against his skin. Any advice?

Cindy, We appreciate the great products and advice you and your company have provided us. We have purchased a prong collar and e-collar recently and after a week noticed that the dog's neck was really raw where the e-collar prongs have been and I was hoping you may have some insight on this. I removed the collar every few days and gave him a break but his skin is really swollen and started to develop pus around his neck. I'm worried that he may be allergic to the metal against his skin. A...

For fitting the ecollar with contact points, my dog has long hair and I need the collar to make good contact. Do you use the 3/4

Hi Cindy, After purchasing and watching your DVD on remote collars I have just now begun training and I am loving the results. They have been life changing not just for me, but my dog as well. I bring her to work with me everyday and her recall on the job site was awful. I took her to an obedience trainer and her recall never improved once the leash came off. I just want to thank you because it was your website that persuaded me to use a remote collar. My question is with fitting the co...

My prong collar recently broke and can't find a replacement part for the area that broke. What should I do?

Several years ago I bought a stainless steel micro prong collar to train my mini schnauzer to quit barking and pulling. It worked so well when I got my doberman I ordered extra links a month ago to use with him. Well today while in the car, the collar broke. I was told by my trainer to use the prong on him in the car to correct his whining and howling (excited, not nervous). So this is what we did and the chain part, not the link part just broke. I tried to look and see if there were other pe...

My puppy will be about 6 pounds when I get him, what size crate should I get? Can I get a medium sized crate and put something in it to take up extra space while he's young and remove it when he gets to be big?

When getting a crate, being that my puppy will be about 6 pounds when I get him, what size crate should I get? He will grow rapidly (Rottweiler) and I may be spending a fortune on crates to accommodate his growth. Can I get a medium sized crate and put something in it to take up extra space while he's young and remove it when he gets to be big enough?

I have a 10 year old dog with degenerative arthritis in his hock and knee in the same leg. A friend told me about Yucca and how it helps her dogs. My dog has kidney problems, would Yucca Intensive have any affect with his kidney issues.

I have a 10 year old male GSD who has degenerative arthritis in his hock and knee in the same leg. He is really starting to have difficulty moving around. He currently is on Glucosmine/Chrondtin/MSM; Fish Oil tablets; Duralactin; Tramadol for pain as well as Gabipentin (I?m sure I botched the spelling of that). A friend of mine was telling me about Yucca and how it helps her older dogs. Jesse does have an issue with his kidneys so he cannot take anything stronger, such as Metacam to help him...

We recently adopted a 5 year old GSD, we’ve had him 3 weeks. He chases our horses, what can we do? Would an invisible fence work to contain him?

Dear Ed and Cindy, We live have a german shepherd dog who is five years old. We have had him three weeks. He is a super dog, intelligent sweet natured and obedient. A friend of mine asked me to rescue him as his family were divorced and had dumped him with mother/ mother in law who was disabled. He spent his days in a tiny garden as she was unable to walk him. The only problem I have is that he does chase the horses and then he gets so excited that he doesn't hear what you say. I feel t...

My 18 month old dog has started growling at strangers and the vet. I am committed to stopping this growling, can you make some dvd recommendations for me?

Dear Ed and Cindy, I am asking for your recomendation of training video's. My 18 month old male akita has been "growling" at strangers and vet. At my request we did a thyroid ck and he is low thyroid. His temperment is now better w strangers. I feel it time to ramp up training as he should be feeling better. I got a muzzle for at the vet office from you, so they can be safe. I want to make sure no training mistakes are at the vet office. I use a prong collar on walks. I require him to hea...

I currently have 2 dogs and want to add a working puppy in the next 6 months. I have some questions about having 3 dogs and my plans to live with them.

Hello, have read your information on keeping dogs seperate and have a question. Some background, I have 2 german shepherds age 9 and 11. I got them in Germany. One is a high line dog and one a working line. Both are well socialized and obedient and have no aggression toward each other or other dogs. They are both trained in schutzhund which I did for 6 years while there. They have always lived together with no issues. I want to get a new working puppy in the next 6 months and I wondered if I ...

I'm switching to raw and from what I've read I should start with chicken necks. Even though there are two major chicken processing plants close by, I can't get any. What do you suggest I start with?

Hi Cindy, I wrote you a few weeks ago concerning my 11yr. old German Shepherd with arthritis in her hips. You recommended switching her to the raw diet. I've ordered a couple of the books you suggested and I've read nearly every article on the Leeburg Web site I could find. I'm convinced this is what I should do. Now, my problem. Everything I've read suggests using chicken necks as a main staple, especially for the switch. All my life I remember seeing chicken necks in the grocery ...

I have been feeding my dog just meat (alternating between chicken and organic beef) and eggs. Could I cut the meat in half and also feed her cooked brown rice or oatmeal for the other half of the meal?

Hello Cindy, I just have a question. I started my dog on a raw diet when she was 4 months old and she has been on it ever since. She is now 15 months old. I have been feeding her just meat (alternating between chicken and organic beef) and eggs. She also gets salmon or cod liver oil, olive oil, calcium with vitamin D, vitamin E, Vitamin C, and a probiotic. She also once in awhile gets table scraps or carrots to munch on. But my question is, could I cut the meat amount in half and also feed...

My 9 month old dog is marking everywhere and chews up my shoes. I’m thinking of neutering him to fix this, do you have any suggestions?

Dear Sir, I have used your training videos and advice to start training my doberman who is now 9 months old. We rescued him and had a lot of issue but have worked through most of them. I tried search for a couple of questions I have on the forum but couldn't find the answers for the following questions. The dog has started marking his territory. Bad thing is he thinks that he gets to urinate on company when they come over and he almost did it to my son. I was thinking of having ...

Some breeders advertise pink papers. What is this all about?

Mr. Frawley I have several of your training videos and I must say that I have gained so much from them. I think that even though I am new to the sport I am ready to look into a puppy that I can develop into a competition dog. The biggest problem that I run into though is there are many breeders that say that SV papers represent the best way to get a good puppy prospect, others say that the papers don't mean squat. I have heard that they are sent to Germany and just stamped there and that's...

With your experience how old is too old to breed a dog? Have you ever bred a dog that was half blind?

Dear Ed and Cindy, I have recently purchased your AI kit and video and found it to be very informational. I can really appreciate one breeder wanting to assist another breeders program. We're a small kennel breeding rottweilers and I have one female that doesn't take a liking to the mounting portion of mating. Hopefully, the AI kit will allow us to produce a litter with her. We will be conducting our 1st AI within the next few weeks. Fingers crossed!!! I was just curious though, with...

I have a 6 year old female great dane. I was told their pelvic area starts to close around age 6 and a c-section would probably be needed. What do you think?

Hi Ed, I have a 6 year old female great dane and wanted to know if in your opinion she is too old to be bred. I have been breeding for over 15 years and have never bred a bitch over 5. But I've been reading your website and there are plenty of people that do. I was told their pelvic area starts to close around age 6 and a c-section would probably be needed. What do you think? Thanks, Pat

I have a 3 year old German Rottweiler, who just had her first litter of pups. She has wanted nothing to do with them from the time they were born. I am at a loss at what to do.

Hello Ed, I have a 3 year old German Rottweiler named Eliza Jane, She just had her first litter of pups. She gave birth to her puppies 3 days ago. She has wanted nothing to do with them from the time they were born. She would not even get them out of the sacks when they were delivered. She started acting like she was in labor at midnight. I stayed with her the whole time she went through this process and she kept coming and laying on me and trying to get in my lap. Her water broke at 7:00 ...
