I have been feeding my dog just meat (alternating between chicken and organic beef) and eggs. Could I cut the meat in half and also feed her cooked brown rice or oatmeal for the other half of the meal?

Hello Cindy, I just have a question. I started my dog on a raw diet when she was 4 months old and she has been on it ever since. She is now 15 months old. I have been feeding her just meat (alternating between chicken and organic beef) and eggs. She also gets salmon or cod liver oil, olive oil, calcium with vitamin D, vitamin E, Vitamin C, and a probiotic. She also once in awhile gets table scraps or carrots to munch on. But my question is, could I cut the meat amount in half and also feed...

My 9 month old dog is marking everywhere and chews up my shoes. I’m thinking of neutering him to fix this, do you have any suggestions?

Dear Sir, I have used your training videos and advice to start training my doberman who is now 9 months old. We rescued him and had a lot of issue but have worked through most of them. I tried search for a couple of questions I have on the forum but couldn't find the answers for the following questions. The dog has started marking his territory. Bad thing is he thinks that he gets to urinate on company when they come over and he almost did it to my son. I was thinking of having ...

Some breeders advertise pink papers. What is this all about?

Mr. Frawley I have several of your training videos and I must say that I have gained so much from them. I think that even though I am new to the sport I am ready to look into a puppy that I can develop into a competition dog. The biggest problem that I run into though is there are many breeders that say that SV papers represent the best way to get a good puppy prospect, others say that the papers don't mean squat. I have heard that they are sent to Germany and just stamped there and that's...

These are my nephew's pups and I am e-mailing you for him long distance. He has no computer, I will try to call you in a minute....

With your experience how old is too old to breed a dog? Have you ever bred a dog that was half blind?

Dear Ed and Cindy, I have recently purchased your AI kit and video and found it to be very informational. I can really appreciate one breeder wanting to assist another breeders program. We're a small kennel breeding rottweilers and I have one female that doesn't take a liking to the mounting portion of mating. Hopefully, the AI kit will allow us to produce a litter with her. We will be conducting our 1st AI within the next few weeks. Fingers crossed!!! I was just curious though, with...

I have a 6 year old female great dane. I was told their pelvic area starts to close around age 6 and a c-section would probably be needed. What do you think?

Hi Ed, I have a 6 year old female great dane and wanted to know if in your opinion she is too old to be bred. I have been breeding for over 15 years and have never bred a bitch over 5. But I've been reading your website and there are plenty of people that do. I was told their pelvic area starts to close around age 6 and a c-section would probably be needed. What do you think? Thanks, Pat

I have a 3 year old German Rottweiler, who just had her first litter of pups. She has wanted nothing to do with them from the time they were born. I am at a loss at what to do.

Hello Ed, I have a 3 year old German Rottweiler named Eliza Jane, She just had her first litter of pups. She gave birth to her puppies 3 days ago. She has wanted nothing to do with them from the time they were born. She would not even get them out of the sacks when they were delivered. She started acting like she was in labor at midnight. I stayed with her the whole time she went through this process and she kept coming and laying on me and trying to get in my lap. Her water broke at 7:00 ...

I have a dog whos is acting strange with her pups. If I only let her with them to feed, how often does she need to feed them? Is this the best thing to do?

Hi, I have a female dane who just whelped 2 days ago and somethings just don't seem right. She licks them too frequently, aggressively and vigorously and their stomachs are raw and I know they need this to poo and pee, but I have whelped a number of litters and never had a mother do this. She steps on them heavy footed she laid on one and did not move even though the pup was screaming. Usually after a female steps on one she starts tip toeing around, this one does not. Last night I heard h...

I told a local boarding kennel to feed them adult food but was told that I should feed them puppy food and was wrong to keep them thin. What should I do?

Hello, I have read your Q&A. I took some of your advice for my two German Shepherds. I just wanted to ask you a question from your experience. I recently went out of country for a week and I figure who was going to take care of my dogs while I am out of the country so I decided to put my dogs in a boarding kennel near my area. I feed my dogs puppy Eukanuba. But when they turn six months old I started feeding them with adult Eukanuba food. So I took them to the boarding kennel the day be...

My 1 1/2 year old, male GDS is on a raw diet. Is there a training treat that you prefer to use? So far I've just used string cheese or boiled chicken. Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi Cindy Love your website. It's very helpful and interesting to read. You guys are very busy and devoted to your dogs; that's why I hate to bother you with such a trivial question...But! We recently vaccinated our dog for Lymes and her reaction to the shot killed her. It's important to let people know that this is a terrible vaccination.

Hi Ed, We got Rosie from you as a puppy in '97 from one of the Chelsea/Otis litters. She was the best dog ever. Unfortunately we gave her the Lymes Disease Vaccine and it triggered Auto Immune Disease in her. Despite our attempts to save her, the recovery drugs got her. I just wanted to make you aware in case there might be a problem with this vaccine. I think people should know this can happen. We miss her very much. Thank you for sending us a great dog.

What's you opinion...our breeder always follows the latest recommendations from UC Davis & the American Animal Hospitals Assoc, etc. when recommending vaccinations.

Hi again, Cindy, Speaking of vaccinations, what's you opinion...our breeder always follows the latest recommendations from UC Davis & the American Animal Hospitals Assoc, etc. when she recommends vaccinations. At age 1 we did the puppy shot booster DA2PP, and then every 3 yrs., which is where we are now, we should do it again. And since we take our dogs with us everywhere, she suggests Bordetella every 6 mos. and Leptospirosis every 6 mos. since we live in the country with horse...

Hi Cindy, I am getting a German Shepherd pup which I will be using as a working cadaver dog and possibly do some bitework with him as soon as he ages up some, but I have been doing lots of research on whether I should get any vaccines for him and I'm leaning toward not because of all the issues that can arise from them. I found your web site and it was full of good information on the subject, and I just had a few questions for you, if you have some time. This dog will be exposed to...

I have a 14 week old Rott that comes from very good working bloodlines. She has some issues with being aggressive in certain situations. What is your opinion of the dog?

Dear Mr. Frawley, I am a long time member of your discussion board and have purchased items from your website. My question for you is about my 14 week old female rottweiler pup. I would like to know what you think of her nerves at this stage in her life. I have a fully protection trained male adult rott that we train with at a PSA club here in town that has such strong nerve I couldn't mess him up if I tried. We plan to protection train this pup as well. The pup comes from s...

I know you should not leave toys with a working dog according to 'Raising a Working Puppy.' Are there any items I can leave with the puppy while in his crate for a hours at a time?

Hello Cindy, I will be bringing my working puppy home next weekend. I know you should not leave toys with a working dog according to the "Raising a Working Puppy" video. Can you tell me a few items that I can leave with the puppy while he is in his crate or kennel for a few hours at a time? I believe Ed mentioned giving a Knuckle Bone. Thanks.

My pup shows aggression towards me by growling and showing avoidance. What can I do to create a bond between us?

Hi Cindy & Ed, I purchased a german rottwieler pup to raise for personal protection. She is just over 7 weeks and I've had her for 6 days. I studied the video your puppy 8 weeks to 8 months before I got her home and been doing much of the training shown in the video with moderate success. I have established a value for yes, and the pup is consistent with the touch command. I am an amature handler under the supervision of my husband who has a great deal of training experience. My co...

My dog follows me around the house and goes crazy when she hears my voice while she is in the crate. I want to fix this problem. Any advise?

Hi, I purchased a 4 year old Sch.3 female GSD from a very reputable kennel last March. The dog is wonderful, very obedient, works well for me on the Sch. field and really is about the sweetest dog. The problem I have is that she is very clingy and follows me from room to room when in the house. She will obey my husband and plays well when I'm not home. When she is in her crate she screeches if she hears my voice in the house. When letting her out of her crate she gets very vocal (s...
