Recently, I heard that flaxseed can cause infertility in females, and I was wondering what you thought of that?
I am paranoid about how I take care of my dogs, I always want to do what is best for them. Recently, I heard that flaxseed can cause infertility in females, and I was wondering what you thought of that? I can't find anything on the internet, just this article I recieved. I currently feed Canidae, and the Nupro supplement, which both have flax. What do you think about this supplement, also?

My rescue Greyhound snaps at me. What can I do?
I hope you don't mind questions. I have a dominant female Greyhound X. She is very dog aggressive and will bark and nip friends that visit on a hit and miss basis. We have done obedience classes and she is about 70% on sits and downs. Her stays are 20% and only with treats. I have no idea how to convince her. We got her from the pound a year ago and she is 6 years old.
We let her sleep in the bed and she is less then 4 feet away when we eat. I like her sleeping with us. What should...

I adopted a 5 year old poodle who was allowed to sleep in bed with the previous owner. We want to stop this. When we put her in a crate she howls all night. What can we do?
Dear Mr. Frawley,
I just adopted a 5 year old toy poodle. Her previous owner was an elderly single woman who kept her on her lap and had her sleep on her bed.
She's a good dog. She gets along well with my 1 1/2 year old miniature poodle.
My only problem is, how to get her to sleep in a crate and out of my bedroom. She connected with my husband and would love nothing more then to sleep in our bed. I managed to get her off my bed and onto a day bed but I rather she spen...

Our 3 year old Shih-tzu bit my daughter in the lip last week. My wife wants to get rid of the dog, I do not. What should we do?
I have a 3 year old Shit-zu and a 1 1/2 year old little girl. The dog bit her upper lip yesterday when she hugged him. My wife now wants to get rid of the dog and I don't. I will if I have to but I don't want this to happen. Will neutering the dog correct his aggression? What does neutering the dog do, slow him down? Please help!

I am seriously thinking of putting my dog down but can't find a vet to do it. The dog has bitten several people. What do you recommend?
I just read your article. I found it comforting since I am in the process of coming to terms of having to put my dog down. Jack is aggressive and has bitten people. Fortunately none of the bites broke the skin ............until this last one. And while everyone was always very understanding (honestly) I know I no longer can control him and now live in an area where there are children. However, I can not locate anyone who will put him down - his vet says because he isn't sick he won't do i...

My dog has no food drive. Can you help me?
Hello,
I have a question about Force tracking. I own a rottweiler with an excellent working pedigree but I'm having a serious problem with tracking. He doesn't have good food drive so that method is of no use. I was hoping you'd be able to give some ideas or direct me to some sources of information that would be of help.
Many Thanks,
Terry

I have a 16 month old Cairn Terrier that has been aggressive to my 3 1/2 year old son. What can I do?
Mr. Frawley,
I hope you can help our family. We have a 16 mon. old cairn terrier male neutered at 6 mon. He is generally a good natured dog. We have had typical problems with house training, but generally he is a typical cairn.
Problem is with my 3 1/2 year old son. There seems to be some confusion as to who is higher in the pecking order. My son is very gentle with this dog, but when the pup was 4-5 mon. old he bit my boy in the face. He still bares the scar. Over the past ...

Is a dog grabbing a dog by the scruff of the neck and shaking it like a toy an aggressive behavior? How can I correct this?
I have a 9 month old GSD spayed female that really is a sweet dog. She generally is good with other dogs. I have been taking her to the dog park since she was 6 months for socialization and excercise (I now know this is not recommended by Leerburg and plan on discontinuing my visits).

Our puppy will pee and poop in its crate and seems very content to lay in it. What can we do about this?
One of us is on our way out the door. It's either my 4-month-old Shepherd or me. If left up to my wife she would keep the dog, so I thought I'd try contacting you once more for your help. I have followed your instructions on your video explicitly, and this puppy pees & shits inside more than out.
Size of the kennel: a mosquitoes' hatband can't fit in there with the dog. Food up at 4:30, water up at 5:00. Outside at 11:00 and again at 6:00 AM. He's fine as long as we wake him up, bu...

My dog has started to exhibit some aggression while in the car. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions, and is this behavior likely a symptom of a problem that could get worse?
Dear Cindy,
Thanks for your prompt and helpful reply to my e-mail concerning using e-collars to control prey drive in my 2 year old 110 lb. mastiff/boxer female. The first collar was apparently defective as the replacement worked on the lower power setting just as you said it should.
I have had this dog for a year. She is a rescue dog and is assimilating into the family pretty easily. There have been a few issues - for example, a fear of plastic grocery sacks shifting in the back of the...

My usually well behaved dog recently began chewing items from low tables and shelves. Should we go back to the basics and retrain? What do you suggest?
Dear Cindy,
My now almost 4 year-old GSD female, Pepper, whom my wife and brought home as a 6 week-old puppy (too young to be taken from the dam, I know, but there you have it), is crate trained, and has historically been an obedient and well behaved almost 80 pound dog with an energetic, pleasant demeanor and a lot of 'personality' (she is very vocally expressive when commanded to do something that for whatever reason displeases her, sounding remarkably like Chewbacca of Star Wars...

My rescue dog won't go down the stairs to my basement and I want to take him down there where it's cool so we can play. I don't want to force him, can you help me?
Dear Mr. Frawley:
I have inquired with other trainers who have not helped me in my situation: One year ago I rescued a sweet 1 year old 100 lb. white Field Lab who is very, very laid back, sweet and wonderful. However, he does not get enough exercise even though I have a fenced in back yard. I take him to the doggy park but all he does is just lay on the cement and watch the other dogs. My problem is (I have a one story ranch) my basement is unfinished but I cannot get him to go do...

I understand the dominant dog collar can take the aggression out of the dog by lifting the dog up but do you do this when the prong collar is ALSO attached?
Hi Cindy,
I want to order a prong collar and dominant dog collar but wanted to ask a question first. My main trouble is pulling and excited exuberance and/or dog to dog aggression (depending on the other dog).
I understand the dominant dog collar can take the aggression out of the dog by lifting the dog up but do you do this when the prong collar is ALSO attached or only by itself? I'm confused by that and couldn't find the answer on the website.
Also, on fur saver co...

I have a 18 month old pomeranian who just bit me. I had recently used a choke collar in training. Do you think this aggression was caused from using the choke collar?
I am in a desperate need for a help with my dog. I was reading your article on internet and thought you would be able to give me some suggestion.
I have a male pomeranian. It is one year and six months old. I've had him since he was three months old. Since little, he is very very shy and intimidated around other dogs. Every day I take him to park where 20 other dogs are running around off leash. First few months he was just scared that he would be on my lap. After getting used to t...

I have a white GSD. People say we have to train these dogs differently. Can you tell me how we do that?
I adopted a almost two-year-old, White German Shepard Dog from the local Humane Society. He has not been a problem dog as yet. However, after reading much of your site I found that I am in the process of "grooming" him to be a problem dog. I now firmly believe in basic obedience training for all dogs as well as owners. Here are some questions I have before purchasing advice.
1. So many sites claim White German Shepard Dogs are different than regular German Shepard Dogs and need to ...

Would substituting the crate for the back yard work? Is the back yard not restricting enough?
Hello,
I just adopted a very mellow and sweet Rottie from the pound. He is about 5 years old. I had a question. We live in Southern California(great weather), have a covered patio and 6 foot fencing around my whole yard. I plan on having him as an outside dog for the most part.
So my question is:
From reading your articles. Would substituting the crate for the back yard work? Is the back yard not restricting enough? I am talking about the initial conditioning to estab...

How do you stop aggression in a dog?
I would like to know how to stop aggression. Also I would like to know if my two males, one 6 months and one 18 months old, will fight for dominance. Both are neutered. In first letter I gave you the background of their attack on the goat. I would very much like to buy your video.
Thank you, Dean

My white dog has discolored fur around his collar, will his fur go back to its normal color if I discontinue using the metal prong collar?
Cindy,
I have a white Lab and have been using a metal prong collar. Lately I've noticed that his fur around the collar is discolored (grey colored). Is the discoloration caused by the metal prong collar? Will his fur return to its original color if I stop using the metal prong collar?
Thanks,
Steve

Hello, 6 year old dog aggressive and separation/claustrophobic rescued Akita. Charm to humans. We purchased the aluminium crate about 5 years ago for when we boarded her she would bust out of their crates. It works great as you know.
