Do you carry any products that you have seen help with anal glands that fill up and need monthly expressing?
Hi Cindy,
Do you carry any products that you have seen help with anal glands that fill up and need monthly expressing?
I have a 2 year old F GSD that is really bugged by the quick-to-fill-up glands. The vets say diet could be a factor, but don't know what to include/exclude...just trial and error and no real science. Only thing I've yet to try food-wise is a raw diet and I'm hoping not to have to!
Many thanks,
Gretchen

I noticed the "Leerburg" stamp on my leash, do you know if anyone can do that with my dog's name? Or do you have any suggestions on how I can brand the leash myself? Also, are they oiled/waterproofed?
Hi,
Random question for you... I just ordered a 1/2 6ft black leather leash... this is my second one and I love it! The first one I bought I had for years and I take my dog to a daycare and they think they mixed it up with someone else's leash... anyway, long story short it became missing. They offered to replace it with one from petsmart but of course I'm a leash snob after using yours and wanted a leerburg leash specifically. They gladly reimbursed me for it since they lost mine. I bet s...

I have two pups that were abandoned by their mother. I've using your formula, but they don't seem to be doing very well. What should I do?
Hi,
I have 2 pitt/walker hound pups mixed. When the mother had them, she nursed them once, then took off into the woods to have the rest and never came back to these two. I am using your formula. They are only 1 day old the boy seems weak, while the girl acts like she is always hungry. They both eat from a bottle and have good sucking reflex. Also they seem to cry a lot. What should I do?

I have a three week old English bulldog that has aspirated some milk and is acting lethargic, vomiting, etc. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on what to do for this poor puppy at home? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have been feeding all my puppies the formula that is on your website and it has done wonders.

I would like to breed my dog, but I'm not sure if she is in season or not. She may be spotting. Is this a false season or should I take her to the male and see what happens?
I would like to breed my bloodhound, but I'm not sure if she is in season or not. She will be 3 in Dec. We picked her up last year in June 2010, the previous owner said "she was just in season in May 2010. In July 2010 she again came in season, bleeding, swelling, etc but we did not breed, (too young), and we were not sure we wanted to, so we waited. In Oct 2010 she again came into heat. Ahh she is an odd one for that. She then waited until June of 2011 to come into heat, and had a false preg...

I'd like to know where you got your three wheeled bike? Can you use the dog harness (pole) that attaches to the main handle bar?
Hi Cindy,
I'd like to know where you got your three wheeled bike?
I've got a 110 pound three year old female Rottie, we walk an hour a day approximately 3 and a half miles.
I wanted to get a bike but I am not sure how long or how far I should run my dog. I was also afraid my dog might pull me over on a two wheeled bike.
Can you use the dog harness (pole) that attaches to the main handle bar?
Any information will be helpful.
Thanks,
Gwen

Is it safe to use my Dogtra ecollar on a pregnant dog?
I have the Dogtra 202 Gold collars. Is it safe for me to use the collar on a pregnant dog? I haven't been able to find any information in the booklet or online that says NOT to, but I'm still a bit anxious about using it.
Thanks,
Rebekah

For sizing of the Dominant Dog Collar, should the collar measurement of the neck go into his recess rather than over it?
Dear Cindy,
I have a 4-year-old male Dobermann who was 3 when we got him. He had not been well cared for, but is fine now after a year's work, and is up to a good Dobermann weight of 42 kg. He responds fairly well, but is quite difficult on the lead --- and elsewhere sometimes. So I thought a Dominant collar rather than a prong would be good start to serious training effort. Re sizing: as you run your hands up the back of the neck to the ears, there is an indentation just behind the ears w...

My 8 month old GSD had Pano. Would the vitamin E or C make a significant difference with the food he is already getting or do you know anything else I could do for him?
Hi Cindy,
I have an 8 month old GSD. When he was about 5 months old he starting limping so I took him to the vet and was told to rest him. A week later he was 100%. The limp has returned and it is been about 2 1/2 weeks and he is showing no signs of improving. When it started this last time I read the article you have about pano and I ordered everything you said to give him except the vitamin E and the super C. I also cut his food back by 1/2 and he has been in a crate or at my feet the wh...

I need a muzzle for my dog who has recently shown aggression towards my eldest daugher. Please help!
Hello Ed,
I need a muzzle for my dog Diesel, and may have to find other alternatives anyway. Diesel has been our family dog since he was 7 weeks old, but he has recently shown aggression on more than one occasion towards my eldest daughter (15). He is only 1.5 years old, and is very protective with my five children, including my eldest. But, he will not tolerate ANY form of discipline towards my children when administered by my daughter. First, let me explain what the discipline entails: s...

A Licensed Veterinary Technician's view of Rimadyl.
Bravo! for you Cindy. I am a Licensed Veterinary Technician and, in my province of Ontatio, technicians are not considered part of the veterinary health team, therefore having no input into patient care or information. ALL NSAIDS carry risks, and those folks who used to give their pets aspirin decades ago were very very lucky. Dog and cat livers do the same job as humans but they do not have all the same products to process the things that we have. The result is liver and kidney toxicity. We,...

Please if you could help with advice on what to do with my 5 year old and two dogs and well as my baby. I'm at a loss here and it is a terrible stress.
I have read so many articles on having dogs around children, yet I still have to ask so many questions and tell you my situation in hopes that you can help me before something serious happens in my home.
There are two dogs in my home which are both almost five years old. They are rotti mix, but we are not sure with what. They are my husband's dogs and they have been in this home since they were brought here from about 6 months old. One is male and one is female, they were from the same lit...

I read that you taught your dog to stay in front of you on the trail, while you were horseback riding. How did you do that?
Cindy,
I have written to you in the past about my high drive Doberman who last summer fractured his patella while hiking with him in the woods. I had asked you about what to do about him chasing everything that moves. I do use an e-collar with him for previously he had gotten into the habbit of chasing bikers and joggers in the woods. That has ended. You had told me to use the leave it command for ANY chase behaviour which I can control at this point. But I feel like I am always saying it,...

Are you concerned about hormones fed to Chicken and Beef in the food that you feed your dogs?
Cindy,
First of all, thanks for all of the info on vaccines. I do have another question to do with feeding raw, something I used to do. When feeding ground beef or anything beef, are you at all concerned with the hormones that are given to cattle to fatten them up? I guess the same question goes for poultry too. And one more? I also have a 6 pound Pom and a little bewildered about what size bones he can handle. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

My dog has been scratching a lot and I want to bring her to the vet, but they will want to update her shots, which is something I don't want to do. What does one do, for ailments on their pets and the vets want shots to be up to date?
Hi there, I was looking again at your website and saw the tv show that you have on there about vets. Unreal. Scary. I was wondering if you could give me some insight, my shepherd, is constantly scratching and licking her paws, she is also shedding more than I think she should be. The seasons have changed, so I don't know why she is shedding. She is a house dog, so maybe that could be one of the reasons? I may have to bring her to the vet, trust me I don't want to but she has a little hole in ...

I have a 2 year old male Siberian Husky. For about 6 months I fed raw. Two problems arose however. One, it was difficult to keep weight on him no matter how much I fed him. Two, it became expensive and cumbersome. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Hi Cindy,
I have a 2 year old male Siberian Husky. For about 6 months I fed him a raw food diet. He loved it and did quite well on it. Two problems arose however. One, it was difficult to keep weight on him no matter how much I fed him. Two, it became expensive and cumbersome.
In an attempt to fix these problems I switched to the Honest Kitchens dehydrated raw food and also supplemented with raw meat, eggs, etc. He refused to eat. Turned his nose up every time and would go days without ...

True or false. It is a myth that dog kibble food containing 42% protein can burn up a dog's kidneys?
Hey,
True or false. It is a myth that dog kibble food containing 42% protein can burn up a dogs kidneys? I am feeding my golden retriever conformation show dog Orijen dog food made by Champion Pets out of Canada. (Please see their white paper on their web site) I chose this food because it is grain free, made from quality ingredients, and high in protien. My supposition is that it takes protein to grow the lush coat I am looking for in my 19 month old open bitch.
Thanks Ed,
Bill
