How do I teach my dog how to target the ball when using a ball on a string?

Do you have any training or suggestions to train my dog how to go for the ball and not the rope when using the ball on a rope toy? I have a Rottweiler with a huge toy drive. I would like to use the ball on the rope as a training aid for reward when training him. Right now, he keeps going after the rope and not the ball. I purchased the ball on a rope with the handle at the end from your site. I was hope you can point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Which size ball on a string should I order for my 8 month old Malinois? He isn’t good at gripping the hard rubber ball I have.

Hi, I would like to order a ball on string. Just had a few questions. I saw Michael Ellis's video on ball play and he said the ball should be right in size and squishier for inexperienced dogs so they can get a good grip. I have an 8 month belgian malinois. Which one of your balls on string would you recommend (he isn't good at gripping my hard rubber ball) and which size? Thanks in advance

I’ve studied Michael Ellis’s e-collar course and I need guidance on how to pair this with leash pressure. I’m a little confused.

Hi Cindy. I hope this question makes sense. I am looking for a little guidance on how to use what I've learned in Michael Ellis's e-collar course. I think I understand his process of introducing it: verbal command, followed by stim + leash pressure, escape upon compliance. However, I haven't really used leash pressure to teach any of the behaviors ME suggests using leash + e-collar for: foot targets, down, back. We taught those with luring and shaping only. I do use a prong and leash pressure...

Cindy, Can you tell me the magnetic effects from the magnet and ball on iphones, credit cards, and dog microchips? I know to keep magnets away from the cards and electronic devices but how close can you be without effects? What about the dog microchip? Any problems with that? Randy

When training the recall, why do we stop the remote collar immediately after the dog starts to turn in our direction? Won't the dog want to stop midway the recall and go elsewhere?

My question is about Michael's explanation in the video Training the Recall with Michael Ellis when working with the e-collar at the 39:36 mark. Michael explains what needs to be done. Turn on the collar.Call the dog.Guide the dog with the leashAfter the dog turns into our direction, we will turn off the collar. So my question is: Why do we stop the collar immediately after the dog starts to turn to our direction, and not just after the dog standing near us? Couldn't it be that the dog ...

What does it mean on the Keeper Collar page when it says to not 'try out'?

Hi. Re Keeper Collar: What does it mean by it is not to "try out"? I have used a prong collar on my dogs - Labradors in the past (10 yrs ago) while in obedience class. I now have a 13 mo old Lab and thinking to try your keeper collar as it has smaller links then the one I have and it will be concealed. I currently live in a country where choke collars and prong collars are illegal. The keeper collar would hide the prong. I am using a harness right now and will continue but for some of my trai...

Could you recommend a prong collar to help with my 8 month old Rottweiler that pulls on walks?

I have an 8 month old Rottweiler, who has an extremely good temperament. He is good with kids and people etc. I have been doing obedience classes with him with great success. At the classes I use a Herm Sprenger Fur Saver, which I bought from you. My question is: when I walk him, he tries to pull a lot and when he sees other dogs and people walking. He wants to go to them and play. It's not that he's aggressive, it's just that people get scared, and I want to stop that. I wanted to k...

When I use my electric collar can I have my dog's other collar on without it effecting her? She would be wearing either collar a prong collar or a fur saver collar. I would assume it would be okay. But id rather be safe than sorry. Thank you for your time.

Recommended We are using the Educator 3/4" contact points for our Malinois. Are these the correct size?

We have just purchased an Educator 400TS remote trainer from you. We have a 10 month old Belgian Malinois. We are using the 3/4" points. Are those the best size or do we need to get the extra long ones? We have just begun to test the collar on the dog. Thanks for your input.

Recommended I want to use a prong collar on my dog but I'm worried I'll never be able to switch him back to a flat buckle collar after I use it. Is it possible to easily make this transition?

Hi there, I want to use a prong collar on my dog but I am worried I will never be able to switch him off of it. I see it all the time, owners slap on a prong collar (even fitting it correctly) but the dog spends its whole life time using the prong collar because it won't walk appropriately on a flat buckle. I, personally, would be more satisfied with my dog's training if he did not require the use of one his whole life. So is it possible to easily transition? How would you switch to a f...

How concerned should I be about getting the Top-Matic magnets near electronic items?

I am considering purchasing the top-matic training equipment. How careful do I have to be with the magnets as far as getting near electronic items? Is there a suggested range? Do they come in a case that allows them to be kept without damaging outside items? Can they damage a car computer if they are in the vehicle? Thx

Recommended I am an obedience instructor and have a very large Cane Corso in my class. I'm unsure of what type of training collar to use.

I am an obedience instructor for my training club and I have a question about training collars for large breed, protective dogs. I currently have a 120 lb Cane Corso in my class and I'm unsure what type training collar I should use. The dog seems very mellow, but it was only the first class. I have experience with prongs and use them quite often with success. Since this breed of dog is known for aggression and because of the size and power, I really need help. Currently, the owner is using a ...
